Janel Elliot  -  Children's Ministry Coordinator

My Story

I was born and raised right here in Soldotna, Alaska. I was raised in a Christian home with two brothers. I've attended Peninsula Grace my whole life, with the exception of the few years we lived out of state.

I was saved at a young age and blessed to be taught the Word of God by many strong believers who still attend this church (and of course, my parents). However, I would say that I made my faith my own while attending a youth conference when I was in junior high. I walked away from that week with a new, exciting understanding of who Christ is and what He's done for me.

I attended Grace College in Indiana and graduated with a double major in Counseling and Criminal Justice. After college, I did social work in Indiana for a couple of years, before moving back to Alaska and continuing in the social work field, working with at-risk youth.

Not long after moving back in 2009, I met my husband Ryan through a mutual friend. We began dating shortly after and married in 2011. We had our first daughter, June, in 2015, an our second daughter, Maggie in 2018. It was after June was born that I had the opportunity to stay home and raise her. Shortly after making that decision, the Children's Ministry Coordinator position became open. With my love for kids, Ryan and I felt it would be a great opportunity to serve in that position while being able to raise our children.

One thing about me that may be a bit different is that I tend to over-research most things...like, all the things--baby carriers, strollers, vacation places, food, clothes toys. It's to the extent that it's weird, but I like to think I make very educated decisions. :)

My Heart for my Role

I love being able to serve the children and families in our church. I love seeing the kids grow in their relationship with Christ, and serving Jesus. I love seeing families be involved in our church family.
